About the Society
The Polish Society for Histamine Research (PTBH) is a scientific association whose main task is to develop and advance research on histamine and other low-molecular-weight endogenous compounds with high biological activity.
In Poland, the number of histaminologists is not large – the Society has 40 members. The PTBH is also not a wealthy society, its income being mainly members’ subscriptions; currently the annual subscription is 30 PLN.
The Society pursues its objectives through the exchange of information and experiences (lectures, seminars, conferences).
Scientific conferences are organised by the Polish Histamine Research Society periodically, most recently once every 2 years, usually in collaboration with other scientific institutions (Department of Biogenic Amines of PAN, Department of Biochemistry of Hormones of Medical University of Lodz).
The conferences, in principle, are the only forum with such a broad scope for the exchange of experimental and clinical experience on amines and related biogenic compounds. They are attended by eminent specialists from all over the world.
For several years, the proceedings have been held exclusively in English and enable young researchers to break through the initial barriers of presenting their own results.
